OK, where in Texas do they put a fried egg on top of their burgers?
I lived in South Texas for 24 years and never saw anyone eat a burger like that, but they serve it in NY and CA as a "Texas" burger.
I always thought a true Texas burger was no mayo or ketchup but keep the mustard and onions - a la Whataburger?

Wed, September 7, 2005 - 1:29 AMThink the first time I heard of an egg on a burger was within the past few years. But I love a burger with refried beans, picante and corn chips. Think that's a south of the border burger. I like mayo and mustard on mine. But it's like pizza, I make it different all the time. -

Re: Texas Burger
Sat, November 19, 2005 - 12:01 PMThey put eggs on burgers in 3rd world countries usually, but I'd never heard of that in TX either. I do like the Mexican type burger penguin is mentioning. There's a place in Kemah TX (on hwy 142 by the water near Clear Lake / Houston) called "Tookie's" which has been there for years. They make a killer "Bean Burger.
